SARAH JONES
Sarah Jones is a writer and artist who has worked as an independent curator, university tutor, project manager, research assistant and artists assistant for several contemporary artists and arts organizations based in Melbourne, Tasmania, Slovakia and Berlin. She is a recently appointed board member of Creative Geelong and is currently curating the Third Space Gallery + Digital Program.
Sarah’s research-based practice explores text and exhibition as a medium through which critical theory performs as the material of practice. Her recently completed doctoral thesis proposes and investigates the concept of publishing as process through the speculative essay.
Sarah has undertaken research residencies at Banská St A Nica Contemporary (SK), The Meetfactory (CZ), and ACC Galerie (GER) 2016/15. Whilst abroad she was invited to present her research to the Associate PhD Research Collective at the Dutch Art Institute and attended the 2016 Society for Artistic Research conference — ‘Writing as Practice’ (NL). In 2015, she presented at the ‘Transversal Practices: Matter, Ecology and Relationality - VI International Conference on New Materialisms’ (AUS) as well as the ‘Work and Art Symposium’ at UCA Canterbury (UK). Sarah performed with artist Anna Dasović at the NOA Language School at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (NL, 2013); and attended the TAAK Marfa Summer Residency Program, Marfa, Texas (US, 2013/14). She was the 2012 recipient of the Alcorso Foundation Italian Arts Residency for curatorial research, working with artists at the Bevilaqua La Masa Foundation, Venice (IT).
